NATAL Workshop for Planetherapy Volunteers

Articles

As part of the support provided to volunteer therapists at planetherapy, we offer professional training programs. By November 2024, we have successfully delivered training sessions on various topics relevant to our audience, reaching therapists from 35 countries worldwide.

One significant training session in 2024 was conducted in collaboration with NATAL, an organization offering mental health support for victims of trauma due to terror and war. NATAL has helped over 450,000 discharged soldiers and civilians through individual and group therapy, workshops, and activities, aiming to reintegrate them into everyday life.

NATAL’s mission is to become Israel’s leading organization in providing treatment and support for victims of trauma due to national crises. It aims to serve as a framework for guidance, preventive intervention, and as a center for promoting knowledge and awareness about trauma in Israeli society (more about NATAL).

The collaboration between NATAL and planetherapy led to a lecture by Dr. Tamar Levy from NATAL, focusing on initial intervention and support during war and crises. Volunteer therapists at planetherapy often encounter individuals in extreme circumstances, both in Israel and abroad. They are required to create a safe space amid unstable and challenging conditions.

Dr. Levy’s lecture covered topics such as defining trauma, cultural context in trauma work, and handling prolonged threats, as is the case in Israel. The session also allowed participating therapists to discuss trauma-related challenges and specific issues that emerged during their work on the platform.

Through these tailored and professional training sessions, planetherapy equips therapists with deeper insights and tools to provide meaningful support in times of crisis.
